Our Commitment to Your Privacy

At Today Counts, we believe your personal habits and reflections are deeply private. This privacy policy explains how we approach data in our app and what information (or lack thereof) we handle.

We built Today Counts with privacy by design. Unlike many apps that collect extensive user data, we've chosen a different path: your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up through your own iCloud settings.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Today Counts does not collect, transmit, or store:

• Personal information - No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contact information
• Habit data - Your tracked habits, completion status, and daily check-ins stay on your device
• Gratitude entries - Your gratitude reflections and answers are stored locally only
• Voice recordings - Any voice notes you record (Premium feature) are saved to your device, not our servers
• Usage analytics - We don't track how you use the app or which features you engage with
• Device information - We don't collect your device ID, IP address, or location data
• Identifiers - No advertising IDs, tracking pixels, or cross-app identification

How Your Data is Stored

Local Storage

All of your habit tracking data, gratitude entries, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone using secure iOS storage mechanisms. This data is protected by your device's security features, including encryption when your device is locked.

iCloud Backup (Optional)

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone, iOS may automatically back up Today Counts data as part of your device backup. This is controlled entirely by your device settings, not by our app. We do not have access to this backed-up data.

To manage iCloud backup:

• Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups → [This iPhone]
• Toggle "Today Counts" on or off based on your preference

Premium Subscriptions

If you subscribe to Today Counts Premium ($1.99/month), your subscription is processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles all payment processing, and we receive no personally identifiable payment information from you.

Apple may collect:

• Payment information (credit card, billing address)
• Purchase history and subscription status
• App Store account information

This information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours. We only receive anonymous confirmation that a subscription is active—no personal details.

Third-Party Services

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and premium feature access. RevenueCat processes subscription information but does not collect personal data beyond what's necessary to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat does not have access to your habit data or gratitude entries.

OpenAI (Premium AI Features)

If you use Premium features like AI-powered monthly reflections, your gratitude text entries are temporarily sent to OpenAI's API to generate personalized insights. This data:

• Is sent securely and encrypted
• Is not stored permanently by OpenAI (per their API data retention policy)
• Is not used to train AI models
• Cannot be linked back to you personally

Voice recordings are transcribed by OpenAI's Whisper API, following the same privacy principles. For more information, see OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Ads (Free Version)

The free version of Today Counts may display advertisements. If ads are enabled in the future, we will update this policy to reflect what data (if any) is shared with ad networks. Currently, no ads are active and no advertising data is collected.

Premium subscribers receive an ad-free experience.

Data Security

Because your data stays on your device, its security depends primarily on your device's built-in protections:

• Device encryption - iOS automatically encrypts data when your device is locked
• Passcode/Face ID/Touch ID - Protects access to your device and app data
• No cloud vulnerabilities - Since we don't store data on servers, there's no risk of server breaches

Children's Privacy

Today Counts is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because we don't collect any personal information at all, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children's data.

Your Rights and Choices

Data Access

All your data is accessible within the app at any time. You can view your habit history, gratitude entries, and settings whenever you like.

Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual entries - Edit or remove specific days or habits
• Reset all data - Go to Settings → scroll to bottom → "Reset All Data"
• Uninstall the app - Deleting Today Counts from your device permanently removes all local data

Subscription Management

To cancel your Premium subscription:

• Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Today Counts
• Tap "Cancel Subscription"
• You'll retain Premium access until the end of your billing period

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app or via the email you use for support inquiries.

Continued use of Today Counts after policy changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

International Users

Today Counts is available worldwide. Since your data stays on your device, it is subject to the laws and privacy protections of your country. The app does not transfer data internationally because it doesn't collect or transmit personal data to begin with.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA):

• We do not process personal data, so GDPR data processing requirements do not apply
• If you use Premium features with AI processing, the legal basis is consent (you choose to use these features)
• Subscription processing by Apple is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

For California residents:

• Right to know: We collect no personal information
• Right to delete: You can delete all app data at any time through Settings
• Right to opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal information
• Right to non-discrimination: Core app features are available regardless of privacy choices

The bottom line: Today Counts is built on a foundation of privacy and trust. Your habits, gratitude, and reflections are yours alone. We don't collect your data, we don't sell your data, and we don't track you. Your journey toward intentional living is private, as it should be.
